CSV Chart Generator
Upload a CSV or paste it directly and turn it into a chart — bar, line, area, scatter, pie, or histogram. Column pickers adapt to the chart type, and only genuinely numeric columns are offered wherever a numeric value is required. Pie charts sum values by category automatically; histograms bin a numeric column into a chosen number of buckets. Download the result as a PNG. Runs entirely client-side using Recharts — nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
This tool turns a CSV into a chart, live, without any spreadsheet software. Six chart types are supported: bar, line, and area charts plot a Y column against an X column; scatter plots two numeric columns against each other, keeping only rows where both are numeric; pie charts aggregate a numeric value column by category, summing values that share the same category rather than requiring pre-aggregated data; and histogram bins a single numeric column into a chosen number of equal-width buckets to show its distribution. Only columns that are entirely numeric (ignoring blanks) are offered wherever a numeric column is required, so you can't accidentally point a Y axis at a text column. It runs entirely client-side using Recharts — nothing you upload or paste is ever sent anywhere.
What you can do
- Bar, line, area, scatter, pie, and histogram charts from the same CSV
- Upload a .csv file, or paste CSV directly
- Download the chart as a PNG
- Nothing is uploaded — parsing and rendering happen locally in your browser
How to use
Step 1
Add your CSV
Upload a .csv file, or paste it directly.
Step 2
Pick a chart type and columns
Column choices adapt to the chart type — bar/line/area/scatter want an X and Y column, pie wants a category and a value, histogram wants one numeric column.
Step 3
Download the result
Export the rendered chart as a PNG.
Example
This CSV:
CSV
month,sales Jan,120 Feb,180 Mar,240
plots directly as a bar, line, or area chart with month on the X axis and sales on the Y axis — no extra setup needed.
How your data is handled
This tool is labeled 🟢 Browser: your CSV is parsed and charted directly in your browser using the Recharts library — nothing is uploaded to a server, and nothing about it is retained once you leave the page.
Frequently asked questions
Why do pie charts sum values instead of showing one slice per row?+
Raw CSV data is often one row per event or record rather than one row per category totals — grouping by category and summing the value column produces a meaningful pie chart directly from that shape of data instead of requiring you to pre-aggregate it yourself.
Why can't I pick a text column as the Y value?+
Only columns where every non-empty value parses as a number are offered for Y/value fields — a column with even one text value isn't treated as numeric, the same rule this site's CSV Viewer uses.
What happens to rows with missing or non-numeric values?+
They're skipped for that chart rather than plotted as zero or breaking the chart — bar/line/area/histogram skip rows missing the required numeric value, and scatter requires both X and Y to be numeric in the same row.
How are histogram bins chosen?+
The value column's range (max minus min) is split into equal-width bins — the count slider controls how many. Every value is placed in exactly one bin, including the maximum value, which is included in the last bin.
Is my CSV uploaded anywhere?+
No — whether uploaded as a file or pasted, your CSV is parsed and charted directly in your browser. Nothing here ever leaves your device.
