Image Resizer
Resize an image to exact pixel dimensions, a percentage of its original size, or a preset for what people actually resize photos for — a passport/ID photo, or a specific social media size (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter/X). With aspect ratio locked, one dimension derives the other automatically, or the image scales to fit a given box without distortion. Runs entirely client-side using the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
This tool resizes an image to exact pixel dimensions, a percentage of its original size, or a preset matching what most people are actually resizing a photo for — a passport or ID photo, or a specific social media dimension. With "maintain aspect ratio" on, giving only a width or only a height automatically computes the other to avoid distortion; giving both scales the image to fit entirely within that box, the same way CSS's object-fit: contain works, rather than stretching it to an exact size that would break the original proportions. Turning the lock off lets you set an exact width and height independently when you genuinely want that. Passport/ID photo sizes vary by country — the presets here use the widely-documented 2×2 inch (US/India) and 35×45mm (UK/Schengen) conventions, but always double-check your specific country's current requirements before submitting an official application. It runs entirely client-side using the Canvas API — nothing you upload is ever sent anywhere.
What you can do
- Presets for passport photos and common social media sizes
- Exact width/height in pixels, or a simple percentage scale
- Optional aspect-ratio lock so you never accidentally stretch a photo
- Nothing is uploaded — resizing happens entirely in your browser
How to use
Step 1
Upload a photo
Its original dimensions are shown immediately.
Step 2
Pick a size
A preset (passport photo, Instagram post, and similar), an exact width/height, or a percentage.
Step 3
Resize and download
The resized image is ready to save immediately.
Example
A 4000×3000px photo:
Target
Width: 1080 (aspect ratio locked)
Result
1080 × 810px
the height is computed automatically to preserve the original 4:3 ratio — no distortion.
How your data is handled
This tool is labeled 🟢 Browser: your image is resized directly in your browser using the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded to a server, and nothing about it is retained once you leave the page.
Frequently asked questions
What size should I use for a passport photo?+
The US and India presets use the standard 2×2 inch (600×600px) size; the UK/Schengen preset uses 35×45mm (413×531px). These are widely-documented, common conventions, but passport photo requirements do vary by country and can change — always verify against your specific country's current official requirements before submitting an application.
Why did my resized image come out stretched?+
"Maintain aspect ratio" was likely turned off while width and height were both set to values that don't match the original ratio — turn it back on, or manually calculate a width/height pair that matches the original proportions.
What's the difference between using width+height with aspect ratio on vs. off?+
With it on, the image is scaled to fit entirely within your width×height box without being stretched — the actual output may be smaller than what you entered in one dimension. With it off, the output is forced to exactly the width and height you entered, which will distort the image unless those dimensions happen to already match its original ratio.
Can I resize by percentage instead of exact pixels?+
Yes — enter a percentage instead of width/height (50 for half size, 200 for double, and so on) and both dimensions scale together automatically.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?+
No — it's resized directly in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing here ever leaves your device.
