CSV Viewer / Inspector
Upload a .csv file or paste CSV directly to browse it as a scrollable table and see a per-column summary: inferred type (number, boolean, or string), empty-value count, unique-value count, and min/max for numeric columns. Parsing is quote-aware, correctly handling commas and escaped quotes inside quoted fields. Toggle whether the first row is a header. Runs entirely client-side — nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
This tool parses a CSV file and shows both a per-column summary and the raw data in a scrollable table, useful for sanity-checking a dataset before you load it somewhere else. Each column's type is inferred from its non-empty values — number if every value parses as one, boolean if every value is exactly "true" or "false" (case-insensitive), and string otherwise, with numeric columns additionally getting their min and max. Parsing is quote-aware, correctly handling commas and escaped quotes inside quoted fields. It runs entirely client-side — nothing you upload or paste is ever sent anywhere.
What you can do
- Upload a .csv file, or paste CSV directly
- Browse the full data as a scrollable table
- Per-column stats: inferred type, empty count, unique count, min/max for numbers
- Nothing is uploaded — parsing and inspection happen locally in your browser
How to use
Step 1
Add your CSV
Upload a .csv file, or paste it directly — toggle whether the first row is a header.
Step 2
Read the column stats
Each column's inferred type, empty-value count, unique-value count, and (for numbers) min/max.
Step 3
Browse the data
Scroll the full table below the stats to sanity-check the actual rows.
Example
This CSV:
CSV
name,age,active Alice,30,true Bob,25,false Carol,,true
reports age as a number column (min 25, max 30, 1 empty value), active as a boolean column, and name as a string column.
How your data is handled
This tool is labeled 🟢 Browser: your CSV is parsed and inspected directly in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server, and nothing about it is retained once you leave the page.
Frequently asked questions
How is a column's type decided?+
A column is "number" only if every non-empty value in it parses as a number, "boolean" only if every non-empty value is exactly true or false, and "string" otherwise — a column with even one non-numeric value among mostly numbers is reported as "string", not partially numeric.
What does the unique count include?+
It counts distinct values across every row in that column, including empty values as one of the distinct values if the column has any blanks.
What happens with rows that have fewer fields than the header?+
Missing trailing fields are treated as empty for that row, and counted toward that column's empty count — the row itself isn't dropped.
Is there a row limit?+
The data preview table shows up to 500 rows for browser performance, but the column statistics (type, empty count, unique count, min/max) are computed over every row in the file, not just the preview.
Is my CSV uploaded anywhere?+
No — whether uploaded as a file or pasted, your CSV is parsed and inspected directly in your browser. Nothing here ever leaves your device.
