Favicon Generator

Generate a complete favicon and app-icon set from one source image: a genuine multi-resolution favicon.ico (16/32/48px bundled into one real ICO container, not a renamed PNG), Apple touch icon and Android/PWA PNGs at their standard sizes, a manifest.json icons snippet, and the exact <head> tags to reference everything. Runs entirely client-side using the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded.

About this tool

This tool generates a complete favicon and app-icon set from a single source image: a real multi-resolution favicon.ico bundling 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48 versions into one file (the classic favicon browsers actually expect, not just a renamed PNG), plus standalone PNGs at the sizes Apple touch icons (180×180) and Android/PWA home screen icons (192×192, 512×512) require. The .ico file is built as a genuine ICO container — the same binary format real icon tools produce — not a single fixed-size image with a .ico extension slapped on, which some simpler generators do and which some browsers and operating systems render incorrectly. The download also includes a manifest.json icons snippet and the exact <head> tags needed to reference every file, since generating the images is only half the job. It runs entirely client-side using the Canvas API — nothing you upload is ever sent anywhere.

What you can do

  • A real multi-resolution favicon.ico (16/32/48px bundled into one file)
  • Apple touch icon and Android/PWA icon PNGs at their standard sizes
  • A manifest.json icons snippet and the exact <head> tags to reference everything
  • Nothing is uploaded — every size is generated locally in your browser

How to use

Step 1

Upload a source image

A square logo or icon works best — it's used as the basis for every size.

Step 2

Generate

Every standard size is rendered from your source image in one pass.

Step 3

Drop the files in and paste the snippet

The zip includes everything, plus the exact HTML to wire it up.

Example

A 1024×1024 logo, generated:

Output

favicon.ico (16/32/48 bundled)
icon-180.png
icon-192.png
icon-512.png
manifest.json
head-snippet.html

everything needed for a site's favicon and PWA/home-screen icons, bundled into one .zip.

How your data is handled

This tool is labeled 🟢 Browser: every icon size is rendered directly in your browser using the Canvas API — nothing is uploaded to a server, and nothing about it is retained once you leave the page.

Frequently asked questions

Why is favicon.ico one file with three sizes instead of three separate files?+

That's what the .ico format is actually for — a single container holding multiple resolutions, so the browser or OS can pick whichever size fits where it's being displayed (browser tab, bookmark, taskbar). Some simpler tools just export one PNG renamed to .ico, which isn't a real multi-resolution icon and can render incorrectly in some contexts.

What's the manifest.json snippet for?+

It's the icons array a web app manifest needs to define how your site's icon appears when added to a phone's home screen or installed as a PWA — paste it directly into your existing manifest.json, or use it as the starting point for a new one.

What size source image should I use?+

A square image at least 512×512 works best, since every generated size is derived from it — a smaller source will be upscaled for the larger sizes and may look soft.

Do I need every file in the zip?+

favicon.ico alone covers the classic browser-tab favicon. The larger PNGs and manifest.json only matter if you want a proper home-screen/PWA icon on mobile — skip them if you don't need that.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No — every size is rendered directly in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing here ever leaves your device.
