PDF Metadata Editor
Read and edit a PDF's document properties β Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, and Creator β the fields most PDF readers show in a "Document Properties" panel. Clear any field by leaving it blank. Producer is shown for reference only, since the underlying PDF library always overwrites it on save regardless of what's set. Runs entirely client-side using pdf-lib β nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
This tool reads and edits a PDF's document properties β the Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, and Creator fields most PDF readers show in a "Document Properties" or "Info" panel, and that some search engines and file managers index. Keywords are shown space-separated, matching how the PDF format itself stores them internally (as a single space-joined string, not a structured list), so that's the format used here too rather than inventing a comma convention that wouldn't actually round-trip. The Producer field is shown for reference but isn't editable β the underlying PDF library used to write the file (pdf-lib) always stamps its own identifying string into that field on save, a limitation of the library itself rather than a choice this tool makes. It runs entirely client-side using pdf-lib β nothing you upload is ever sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't I edit the Producer field?+
The PDF library used to save the file (pdf-lib) always overwrites Producer with its own identifying string every time a PDF is saved, regardless of what value is set beforehand β there's no way to make a custom value stick, so it's shown for reference only rather than offered as an editable field that silently wouldn't work.
Why are keywords separated by spaces instead of commas?+
The PDF format itself stores keywords as one space-joined string internally, not a structured list β matching that convention means editing and re-reading a PDF's keywords here always round-trips correctly, rather than inventing a comma format the underlying file doesn't actually support.
Does this change anything else about my PDF?+
No β only the metadata fields you edit change. Pages, content, and formatting are untouched. The modification date is updated automatically to reflect that the file was genuinely changed.
How do I remove a value entirely?+
Clear the field so it's empty, then save β an empty field is written as genuinely empty, not left as whatever it was before.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+
No β its metadata is read and updated directly in your browser using the pdf-lib library. Nothing here ever leaves your device.
